Who are we?
We are an independent non-political organisation working on behalf of Nottingham's environment and quality of life
- We welcome all those interested in Nottingham: its past, present and future
- We campaign to protect the city's character, its historic buildings and open spaces
- We campaign for good design and sustainability in new developments, and monitor and advise on planning proposals
- We undertake many projects to enhance the city environment, for instance park furniture in the Arboretum, the new Castle flagpole and the restored Royal Centre terraces
- We are frequently involved in city events and currently organize Nottingham's Heritage Open Days
- We are involved with organisations locally, regionally and nationally with similar and complementary interests, and we take an active role in the life of the city
What do we do?
We produce a series of academic and popular publications on Nottingham's historic buildings and areas in addition to a regular Newsletter
- We hold regular events for members which include an annual programme of meetings with first class guest speakers, visits to places of interest locally and further afield, and social events
- We offer many opportunities for members' involvement in the Society's work through our various committees and working groups, ranging from commenting upon planning issues to organizing events, projects and publicity, with opportunities to use and develop skills
We hope that you will join us and support our work for the well-being of Nottingham. We shall be delighted to welcome you.
